Following the results of the Madhya Pradesh Van and Jail Recruitment Test 2023, protests erupted after a candidate scored an unprecedented 101.66 marks out of 100. Candidates have demanded an inquiry into the normalisation process by alleging fraud in the recruitment examination.

As reported by PTI, agitated candidates appeared before the district collector’s office and handed over a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, demanding action and transparency regarding the examination and recruitment process.

In competitive exams, Normalisation refers to a "process for ensuring students are neither advantaged nor disadvantaged by the difficulty of papers they write. The process involves revising the score of a student in a way that it becomes comparable with the score of another.”

Despite Mizoram's early dominance and superior attacking prowess, it was Bengal who seized the opportunity. Shivani Kumari (18th minute)scored the only goal of the match.

The candidates have demanded a comprehensive investigation into the recruitment process, which they claim is flawed. The recruitment exam was conducted to fill positions such as forest guard, field guard (executive), and jail guard (executive).

In response to the result declaration, the board clarified that the “normalisation process” was implemented according to the rules, which can lead to scores exceeding 100 marks or falling below zero in certain cases.

Speaking to PTI, Gopal Prajapat, one of the protest leaders, expressed dissatisfaction with the process, stating, “This is the first time in the state’s history that a candidate has scored more than the total marks due to the normalisation process. We are protesting against this unfair method.”

He further alleged discrepancies in the recruitment process for the forest and jail department roles and called for an impartial investigation."

Prajapat added that if no corrective action is taken, the job aspirants will continue and intensify their agitation against the recruitment process.

The results of the examination were declared on December 13, 2024, by the Bhopal-headquartered Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board. The recruitment exam was held for fill positions such as forest guardjilihot, field guard (executive), and jail guard (executive).
